Linguistic imperialism
Linguistic imperialism refers to "the transfer of a dominant language to some people" where this language has a superior dominance over others and is then imposed in different cultural, social, educational, technological and economic contexts. Many minority languages feel displaced. Linguistic imperialism could be seen as the military power of the modern as it not only imposes its language but also many of its cultural customs. English, for example, has a significant impact on global communication, being used in different areas and one of the most important is technology. English-speaking countries have great influence, it is the most used language in networks and in international trade. This has led many countries to adapt English as a second language.
